Privacy Policy

How Echoes, Advanced Duplicate Finder for Lightroom, handles purchase information, license retrieval, support messages, and plugin-related privacy.

Last updated: June 2026

Overview

This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you visit the Echoes website, purchase a license, retrieve a license key, contact support, or use the plugin's licensing features.

The plugin is designed for local Lightroom Classic catalog workflows. It does not need to upload your photos to perform duplicate detection.

Information we may collect

Depending on how you interact with the product, we may collect:

  • Your email address used for checkout, license retrieval, or support.
  • Order information provided by the payment processor.
  • License activation status and related technical identifiers needed to validate your license.
  • Support messages you send to us.
  • Basic website analytics or server logs if enabled on the website.
  • We log plugin download requests, including date/time, requested file, IP address, browser user agent, and referrer, to measure downloads, prevent abuse, and support customers. Download logs are retained for up to 90 days and then deleted or anonymized.

Photos and Lightroom catalogs

Echoes analyzes metadata inside Lightroom Classic on your computer. The plugin is not designed to upload your image files, previews, edits, or Lightroom catalog contents for duplicate scanning.

Generated CSV reports are stored locally in the log location selected by the user, unless you choose to share them with support.

Payment processing

Payments are handled by a third-party payment processor. We do not store full credit card numbers. The payment processor may provide us with purchase confirmation, customer email, order number, product purchased, and refund status.

Your use of the payment processor is also governed by that provider's own privacy policy and terms.

License retrieval and activation

When you retrieve or activate a license, your checkout email and license-related information may be checked against our licensing records or licensing service.

This is used to confirm that you purchased the Premium license and to provide access to paid functionality.

How we use information

We use collected information to:

  • Deliver license keys and validate Premium access.
  • Provide customer support.
  • Process refunds or purchase questions.
  • Improve product documentation, reliability, and user experience.
  • Prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized license sharing.

Information sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We may share limited information with service providers needed to operate the product, such as payment processors, email providers, hosting providers, analytics providers, or licensing infrastructure.

We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect rights, security, or prevent fraud.

Data retention

We retain purchase and license records for as long as needed to provide license retrieval, support, accounting, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.

Support emails may be retained for a reasonable period so we can track and resolve product issues.

Security

We use reasonable safeguards to protect license and customer information. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights

Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict use of your personal information. To make a request, contact us using the email below.

Children's privacy

The plugin and website are not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy as the product, licensing system, payment provider, or legal requirements change. The updated date at the top of the page shows when the policy was last revised.
